BPC-157 is a synthetic pentadecapeptide fragment derived from a protective protein found in human gastric juice, studied for its influence on tissue repair across tendon, ligament, muscle, and gut tissue.

In animal studies, it has accelerated tendon-to-bone healing, increased collagen organization at injury sites, and promoted new blood vessel growth that supports faster recovery from soft-tissue damage.

Research in rat models has also found protective effects on the gastrointestinal lining, including reduced ulceration and faster mucosal repair after chemically induced injury.
