L-Carnitine

L-Carnitine is a naturally occurring amino acid derivative that transports long-chain fatty acids across the mitochondrial membrane, a rate limiting step in fatty acid oxidation and cellular energy production.

A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials found that L-carnitine supplementation was associated with reductions in body weight, BMI, and fat mass, along with lower markers of exercise-induced muscle damage in recovery studies.

These findings continue to drive research into its role in fat metabolism, mitochondrial function, and exercise recovery.
