GLP-3 (R)

GLP-3 (R) is a triple GIP, GLP-1, and glucagon receptor agonist studied for its effects on energy expenditure and appetite.

Adding glucagon receptor activity to incretin signaling is thought to raise energy expenditure on top of the appetite suppressing effects already seen with GIP and GLP-1 agonism.

In phase 2 trials, triple receptor agonists in this class produced body weight reductions of up to approximately 24%, the largest reported for an incretin based approach, a finding driving continued research into triple receptor agonism for obesity and metabolic disease.
