L-Glutathione

L-Glutathione is a tripeptide built from glutamate, cysteine, and glycine that serves as one of the cell’s primary antioxidants, neutralizing reactive oxygen and nitrogen species directly and through glutathione peroxidase and S-transferase enzymes.

Cell studies have found that raising intracellular glutathione lowers oxidative stress markers and apoptotic signaling, while skin research has linked topical and oral glutathione to changes in pigmentation and measures of oxidative stress.

This has kept glutathione at the center of research into detoxification, cellular protection, and skin biology.
