Semax

Semax is a synthetic peptide fragment of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH 4-10), developed in Russia and stripped of hormonal activity while retaining effects on the brain’s neurotrophic signaling.

Russian researchers found that Semax raises BDNF and NGF expression in the hippocampus and cortex through CREB-dependent transcription, supporting neuron survival and plasticity.

It has been studied in rodent models of ischemic stroke, where it reduced neurological damage, and is registered as a prescription treatment for stroke and cognitive impairment in Russia.

This body of work continues to drive research into its role in cognition and neuroprotection.
